The morning I made this photograph there was an excellent cloud forecast, so we got up early and decided to head over to Boat Harbour in Gerringong. Unfortunately a low bank of cloud blocked the pre-dawn colour and the sky failed to light up. We decided to pack up early and go for breakfast instead. As we were leaving Gerrringong, driving across the Omega Bridge in Gerringong, we noticed that the lagoon was covered in mist picked out by the rising sun. I quickly parked the car, ran back down the hill and took this photo looking across to the headland at North Werri. No more than 15 seconds after this shot the mist disappeared, but I got the shot. This is the essence of landscape photography for me - catching these fleeting moments.
