This Stupidly Useful Free Little App Let’s You Control Your Mac With Your iPhone
Sill is a free, open source app that puts a Mac window, or your whole desktop, on your iPhone or iPad, so you can check on a stalled download, a render or a backup without leaving the sofa. There’s no account and no server in the middle, just a small host app on your Mac and a viewer on your phone.
In this video I look at how it works over wifi, what it’s like on an iPhone screen, where it gives up (anything fiddly or precise), and how to reach your Mac away from home using a mesh VPN such as Tailscale. You’ll need an Apple silicon Mac on macOS 14 or later, and iOS or iPadOS 17 or later.
