Eight iPhone Photo Apps Flying Under the Radar

Some hidden gems you may not have heard of

I love deep-scrolling through the darkest regions of the App Store trying to unearth those photography apps that can’t seem to find a ray of light on the forest floor through the suffocating canopy of the triple-A titles.

It’s a shame that the usual suspects dominate that important upper tier of the app store because there’s some genuinely great software lurking a few pages down.

And so if you’ve been looking for a bit of smartphone photography inspiration here are eight apps that caught my eye. Yes, they’re all iPhone because that’s what I use, but some of them are available on Android too. Click on the headings for direct App Store links.

EXIFrame

Here’s a cool way of sharing relevent EXIF data with people when you upload your photographs on social media. EXIFrame creates a professional looking stylised frame for your photograph, automatically adding metadata such as aperture, ISO and exposure time.

You can tweak the layout of these EXIF frames using the composer, changing the polaroid style of the frame, tweaking colours – absolutely everything is fully editable, including the photo itself. Custom logos can be added in the composer window and you can also include copyright information.

It costs $12.99AUD for a lifetime licence or you can pay $1.99 per month subscription instead. If you like the app functionality I’d say the lifetime licence made far more sense.
