The Storm and the Sunset
I’m not so much a storm-chaser as a storm-sitter. I love photographing them, but I can’t be arsed with all that driving, so I wait for them to come to me instead. That does mean I don’t get to photograph storms very often, but I do appreciate them much more when I do. Last night a punchy little storm blew right overhead here and I rushed out to photograph its approach and departure. And then, finding myself at Gerroa I decided to stick around for sunset, which was pretty nice too.
Seven Mile Beach at Gerroa is my ‘go to’ beach as it’s a short drive from my house and offers a flexible number of landscapes in one small area. You can shoot on the beach, on the reserve by the boat ramp, over the rocks behind Crooked River or round the corner at Black Head.
