My wife Catherine and I first visited Drawing Room Rocks about 15 years ago. We were new to the area and had heard about this amazing lookout on the escarpment above Berry. After a fair bit of asking around we eventually discovered that it is accessed via a bushwalk at the top of Woodhill Mountain. That first time we walked to the top the path was so overgrown that we got lost three times on the way up. These days the location is very well known and the little indistinct track we followed that first time is now a two metre wide ‘road’ all the way up the side of the mountain. It’s now a very rare day when you can visit this spot and have the place to yourself.
This photograph was taken at sunrise on the 8th of July 2012. Our son Josh was away at camp and, as we didn’t have to worry about getting him ready for school, Catherine and I walked up to the lookout in the dark. We hadn’t expected to see the amazing river of mist flowing down the mountain but it was a breathtaking sight.
