There’s a dune to the right of the footpath as you walk onto the beach in Shoalhaven Heads that seems to be a bit of a magnet for people watching the sunrise. With that in mind one of the locals placed a bench on the dune and it became popular quickly. Vandals broke the first bench so the local that had placed it there in the first place replaced it. Then the council stepped in and said that the bench couldn’t be there for the usual bureaucratic jobs-worth reasons. So the bench was removed and has never been replaced. But I did capture some nice sunrises with it in situ and hope that one day it will be put back.
I took this shot in the summer of 2017. It’s a tone-mapped image from three exposures to ensure the bench and the sunrise were both visible and correctly lit.
