There’s something magical about the light early in the morning that can transform any scene into something magical and when the scene is already beautiful it double the effect. This shot was taken at Cambewarra Lookout about 30 minutes after sunrise looking out towards the coast. The hill you can see is Cullunghutti (in the original Yuin) and Mount Coolangatta (in the Europeanised version) and it is of significant cultural and spiritual significance to the first Australians as it seen as the literal stepping off point to heaven from which the dead walk off into the afterlife.

This looks a bit like a drone shot, but it was actually taken with my Canon DSLR and a long zoom lens, in July 2016.
