Sunset light is always going to be a lottery but you can greatly increase your chances of photographing it by going to beach as often as possible. It might sound obvious but people sometimes ask me how I get to capture so many colourful sunrises or sunsets and that’s the answer, I just go as often as I can. For this particular sunset I was further up the beach than where I normally position myself at Gerroa because I saw all these birds congregated and thought they’d make a cool subject.
I took this photograph at the end of April 2017. It’s a single exposure taken on my wide angle 10-22m lens at 22mm.
