I knew the sunrise would fit my standard requirements of lots of colour, but I was fine with that. I’ve got out of the habit of getting up for sunrise and I’m trying to get back into the groove. That means getting up even when you know it’s not going to be a colourful sunrise. I find mornings like this extremely enjoyable because they force you to work harder – you can’t just point your camera at the pretty sky – you need to be more inventive and find the subjects in the scence – because they are in there, just waiting to be discovered. As it happened it was a moody morning and I spent some time at the beach and the wharf.
