On1 PhotoRAW 2027 – The Comeback?

You guys know that I don’t pull my punches when it comes to reviewing software. I quite deliberately steer well clear of sponsored content and affiliate links so that I am completely free to speak my mind.

And when I looked at On1 PhotoRAW 2026 this time last year, having thoroughly tested the app from top to bottom, I uploaded a review that could most charitably be described as ‘bruising’.

Some companies would have taken me off the Christmas Card list, perhaps stuck pins in a voodoo doll effigy of me, maybe toyed with hiring someone from the DarkWeb, but Patrick Smith, the general manager from On1, sent me an email and said that while it was a painful video to watch, he accepted my criticisms and told me that they were working hard to improve the issues I raised.

Must have been a tough email to send and I respected him for doing it. I must admit, however, that (cynical bastard that I am) I wasn’t sure they could turn the boat around.

Well, the boat has turned. It’s not a miracle fix and it’s still taking on water, but it’s now pointed at the harbour instead of the iceberg.
