DxO Nik Collection 9 – InDepth Review – All Plugins

That post-RAW workflow for all your post-post-processing needs

You’ve imported the RAW. You’ve balanced the exposure. You’ve nudged the whites, pulled the shadows, cooled the highlights, and spent twenty minutes deciding whether the sky should be slightly less sky-coloured.

The photo is done. Or is it?

There are sometimes tweaks we want to make after the post-processing is done, and that ordinarily entails a side-trip to something like Photoshop or Affinity. Or, you can skip the side-trip entirely and open Nik Collection 9, a suite built almost entirely around the premise that your ‘finished’ photo isn’t.

Version 9 was released today, and is available as an upgrade for $100US or as a new licence for $180US. In this review, I’ll take a look at what’s new in this release, go through each of the plugins in the suite, and then explore whether Nik 9 can credibly stand in for Photoshop or Affinity as a post-RAW editing environment in its own right.
