First batch of entertaining and educational videos that you may have missed over the Xmas and New Year period. Hope you had a peaceful time and that the ‘back to school’ jolt hasn’t been too traumatic this time around!
‘Big Sun’ Alignment Using PhotoPils
Ever wanted one of those ‘big sun’ shots where you shoot through a big telephoto with some interesting foreground? Here’s how to work out where you need to be standing to pull the shot off.
London, After Hours
Just loved the vibe of this video and the street photography shot by Eren Sarigul. He shot the film using some lovely Thypoch lenses – a brand (I must admit) I’d never heard of.
The Future of Film
Great story by the ABC and interviews with some real characters who are helping keep film photography alive here in Australia.
The Hilarious Long-Forgotten ‘Stockies’ Stock Photography Awards
During some research for a new video I uncovered this brilliant video from a decade ago. Stock photography might be passing into the before-times but I’m sure the categories in this satirical masterpiece will still strike a chord.
AI Edit Order in Lightroom Classic
Julianne Kost is definitely the best of the educators on Adobe’s pay-roll and you can guarantee that the information she shares is based on official information from the team that actually codes Lightroom. So, if you were wondering, here’s the best order if you you’re going to use the AI tools.
Saturation Hack for Flat Landscapes
Excellent tutorial by Steve Arnold here that uses some old school techniques to make your landscape photographs pop. I’ve long argued that AI masks are not the way to go with stuff like this and that we’re not respecting the way light actually works in the real world. So if you want your photos to retain a natural look but still want a bit of pop, here’s the way to do it.
Bird Photography in Coastal Denmark
Must admit I don’t watch that many wildlife photographers, because it’s not my favourite photography niche, but when I do it’s usually a Morten Hilmer video. In this one he’s out and about in mid-winter shooting deer and bird-life with a bazooka sized lens. Nice peaceful video and some great photographs.
